Interference--Solicitation of Grievances--Eroding Union Support.--In an attempt to erode employee support for a union during an organizing campaign, an employer solicited an employee grievance and promised to quickly resolve it. Prior to that point, the employer had not handled similar employee requests with such dispatch and its actions were intended to interfere with its employees’ free choice of a bargaining representative. Section 8(a)(1).
Back reference: ¶3800.602.
Discharges--Fact Finding--Cause as Justification.--On the facts, an employer was justified in terminating an employee, although she was engaged in union organizing activities, because she had hit a supervisor in the face with a piece of material that she had been working with. Section 8(a)(3).
