    Steve Roney is experienced in the use of AI tools and tactics.

    The Consumer Product Safety Commission has appointed Steve Roney as director of the agency’s Office of Communications, Acting Chairman Peter A. Feldman announced (CPSC Release, No. 26-496 (May 14, 2026)).

    Roney joins CPSC from Adfero, where he served as Vice President and Head of Digital. In that role, he directed national outreach campaigns for Fortune 500 companies and leading trade associations. He was also involved in advancing the use of artificial intelligence tools and strategies in communications efforts.

    Before his tenure at Adfero, Roney served as managing director at PLUS Communications. Roney holds a bachelor’s degree in English and History from the College of William & Mary.

    In announcing the appointment, Feldman said the agency continues to attract experienced professionals and emphasized the growing importance of digital and AI-driven communication tools. “CPSC’s reputation as a destination for top talent remains strong, and with AI and digital outreach tactics more influential than ever, this move positions the agency at the forefront of modern government communications,” Feldman said.
