As detailed in previous Products Liability Law Daily stories, the following Consumer Product Safety Commission actions are open for public comment until the dates indicated below. Comments may be submitted to the docket number identified in the heading of the document by any of the following methods: Federal eRulemaking Portal: Go to http://www.regulations.gov. Follow the online instructions for submitting comments. Mail/Hand delivery/Courier (for paper, disk, or CD-ROM submissions), preferably in five copies, to: Office of the Secretary, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Room 820, 4330 East West Highway, Bethesda, MD 20814; telephone (301) 504-7923.

May 20, 2026. CPSC has issued a direct final rule updating the mandatory safety standard for infant and cradle swings to incorporate by reference the most recent version of the voluntary standard, ASTM F2088-25. The rule will take effect on July 25, 2026, unless CPSC receives a significant adverse comment by May 20, 2026. If such a comment is received, the Commission will publish a notice in the Federal Register withdrawing the direct final rule before its effective date (CPSC Direct final rule, 91 Fed. Reg. 20875 (Apr. 20, 2026)).

June 3, 2026. CPSC has issued a direct final rule updating the mandatory safety standard for full-size baby cribs to incorporate by reference the most recent version of the voluntary standard, ASTM F1169-25. The rule will take effect on August 1, 2026, unless CPSC receives a significant adverse comment by June 3, 2026. If such a comment is received, the Commission will publish a notice in the Federal Register withdrawing the direct final rule before its effective date (CPSC Direct final rule, 91 Fed. Reg. 23908 (May 4, 2026)).

June 15, 2026. CPSC is seeking information on fraudulent or abusive conduct tied to recall fraud (CPSC Notice of request for information, 91 Fed. Reg. 20138 (Apr. 15, 2026)).

June 15, 2026. CPSC has issued a direct final rule updating the mandatory safety standard for toddler beds to incorporate by reference the most recent version of the voluntary standard, ASTM F1821-26. The rule will take effect on August 29, 2026, unless CPSC receives a significant adverse comment by June 15, 2026. If such a comment is received, the Commission will publish a notice in the Federal Register withdrawing the direct final rule before its effective date (CPSC Direct final rule, 91 Fed. Reg. 27199 (May 14, 2026)).

July 6, 2026. CPSC is seeking information on the prevalence, risks, and impacts of counterfeit certification markings on consumer products (CPSC Request for information, 91 Fed. Reg. 24528 (May 6, 2026)).
