In addition to inspecting and replacing, if necessary, the tire and loading information label, dealers will inspect the tires on affected vehicles for excessive wear and possible replacement.
Daimler Vans USA, LLC (DVUSA) is recalling approximately 2,564 2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vehicles because the gross vehicle weight ratings (GVWR) may be improperly stated on the tire and loading label. As a result, the operator may overload the vehicle, resulting in excessive tire wear and increasing the risk of a crash. These vehicles also fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 120, Wheels and Rims-Other Than Passenger Cars (NHTSA Recall Notice, No. 22V073, Report receipt date: February 9, 2022).
Remedy. Dealers will inspect and replace the tire and loading information label, if necessary. Additionally, tires will be inspected for excessive wear and replaced as needed. All repairs will be conducted free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 28, 2022.
Contact information. Owners may contact DVUSA customer service at 1-877-762-8267. DVUSA's number for the recall is VS3RE58HIN. Owners also may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
