Altec will inspect the bulkhead plate and add a reinforcement plate, free of charge.

Altec Industries, Inc. is recalling an estimated 167 2018-2021 DC and DM Series Digger Derricks and AM series Aerial Devices because the unit subbase of the vehicles may develop cracks in the bulkhead plate, causing the shear plates to fail. A failure of the shear plates can result in the separation of the subbase from the truck frame, increasing the risk of injury (NHTSA Recall Notice, No. 22V071, Report receipt date: February 9, 2022).

Remedy. Altec will inspect the bulkhead plate and add a reinforcement plate, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 8, 2022.

Contact information. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for the recall is CSN 851. Owners also may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
