Cybersecurity Policy Report, House Hearing to Focus on Bills to Bolster Energy Sector Cybersecurity, (Jan 9, 2026)

A hearing to examine the cybersecurity of the U.S. energy sector has been scheduled for next Tuesday by the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s energy subcommittee.
At the hearing, titled “Protecting America’s Energy Infrastructure in Today’s Cyber and Physical Threat Landscape,” the subcommittee will focus on five bills, including the Energy Threat Analysis Center Act, the Energy Emergency Leadership Act, the Rural and Municipal Utility Cybersecurity Act, the Securing Community Upgrades for a Resilient Grid (SECURE Grid) Act, and the Pipeline Cybersecurity Preparedness Act, according to a news release.
“Safeguarding our nation’s energy infrastructure is vital to providing affordable and reliable power while protecting American communities,” Reps. Brett Guthrie (R., Ky.), the committee’s chairman, and Bob Latta (R., Ohio), the subcommittee’s chairman, said in a joint statement.
“Right now, the energy infrastructure in the United States faces numerous cyber and physical threats from sophisticated nation-state actors as well as criminals or ideologically driven hackers. To confront these issues, our Committee will hold a legislative hearing to discuss solutions for our energy infrastructure that would help to strengthen collaboration between the government and the private sector, detect cybersecurity threats, and increase physical security,” the lawmakers added.
The hearing is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. in Room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
