    Estonia's Tax and Customs Board has issued a statement highlighting the April 30, 2026, deadline for filing individual income tax returns.

    Urging taxpayers to file on time, the tax agency encouraged taxpayers to file through the e-MTA portal, noting paper returns typically account for only two percent of all filings.

    The authority typically pre-fills most information within taxpayers' returns. Taxpayers should therefore add missing income and verify, and if necessary amend, automatically included information.

    The tax agency noted, "You can still deduct from your income training costs, gifts, and donations mentioned on the MTA website up to EUR1,200. You can also deduct from your income third-pillar pension contributions up to a maximum of 15 percent of your taxable income, but not more than EUR6,000."

    The tax agency underscored that taxpayers should declare all income, including, among other things:

    • income received or a service fee received through a platform that has not withheld tax;

    • income from securities transactions, an investment account, or income from financial assets, including crypto-assets;

    • income earned abroad, including, for instance, interest and dividends income;

    • gains from real estate transactions or real estate rental income, where income tax has not been withheld;

    • income from selling timber, or the right to cut growing stock; and

    • income earned from operating as a sole trader.
