The product’s remote control has a lithium coin battery that can be accessed easily by children.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is urging consumers to stop using Jolnyus LED flameless candle sets because they violate federal safety requirements for products containing button cell or coin batteries. According to the agency, the lithium coin battery in the remote control can be accessed easily by children, creating a risk of ingestion that could lead to serious injury or death. The remote control and candle sets also lack warnings required under Reese’s Law (CPSC Product Safety Warning, No. 26-310 (Mar. 5, 2026)).
The Commission issued a Notice of Violation to the seller, Jolnyus, of China, but the company has not agreed to provide an acceptable recall remedy to consumers.
The flameless candle sets were sold on Amazon.com from March 2024 through September 2025 for about $20. They were offered in sets of two, each measuring approximately six inches tall and three inches wide, with packaging labeled “volnyus.” All units were manufactured in China.
CPSC is urging consumers to dispose of the candle sets immediately and not sell or give them away. The coin battery in the remote control should be discarded or recycled in accordance with local hazardous waste procedures.
