Consumers should stop using the product immediately and contact the company for a full refund.

Vornado Air LLC has recalled about 255,000 SRTH small room tower heaters because the units’ fan blades can detach from the motor shaft, causing the fan to slow or stop and potentially lead to overheating, melting of internal components, and fire if protective cutoffs fail to activate (CPSC Recall Notice, No. 26-532 (June 4, 2026)).

Incidents and injuries. Vornado has received 32 reports of overheating linked to fan displacement, including eight reports of fires and one report of smoke inhalation.

Product description. The recall involves Vornado SRTH small room tower heaters sold in black and white. The units measure about 12.5 inches tall and 6 inches in diameter and feature two heat settings—low and high—as well as a fan-only option. The Vornado brand name and logo appear on the front of the heater, while the model designation “TYPE SRTH” is printed on a silver rating label located on the bottom of the unit.

The heaters were sold at retailers nationwide, including Kohl’s, Bed Bath & Beyond, and ACE Hardware, as well as online through Vornado’s website and Amazon.com, from August 2013 through May 2026. The products retailed for between $40 and $50.

Remedy. Consumers are instructed to stop using the recalled heaters immediately and contact Vornado to begin the refund process. The remedy requires consumers to submit photos of the product and proof of its destruction in order to receive a full refund.

Customer contact. For more information, customers may contact Vornado toll-free at 844-205-7978 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday; or online at recalls.vornado.com and click on “SRTH Small Room Tower Heater Recall,” or www.vornado.com and click on “Product Recalls” in the upper right corner of the webpage.
