The United States signed a first tax information exchange agreement with Uruguay on October 24, 2023.

The agreement provides for the two countries' tax agencies to cooperate in tax matters, typically through the exchange of information on request, the automatic exchange of information, and through spontaneous information exchanges. These agreements also enable joint participation in tax examinations overseas.

Both countries must complete their domestic ratification procedures before the agreement can enter into effect.
