Global Daily Tax News, Germany Updates List Of 'Tax Havens', (Oct 27, 2023)
The German Government has issued draft legislation to update the territory's own list of territories that are considered non-cooperative for tax purposes.
Placement on the list results in the imposition of various defensive measures, including withholding taxes on outbound payments, restrictions on deductions, and increased scrutiny under Germany's international tax laws, among other things.
The Decree is intended to align Germany's list with the newly updated EU list of non-cooperative territories, which this month was supplemented with the inclusion of Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, and Seychelles. It also newly lists Russia.
The list now includes:
American Samoa;
Anguilla;
Antigua and Barbuda;
Bahamas;
Belize;
Fiji;
Guam;
Palau;
Panama;
Russia;
Samoa;
Seychelles;
Trinidad and Tobago;
Turks and Caicos Islands;
US Virgin Islands; and
Vanuatu.
