The FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau has announced conditional approval and exemptions for certain foreign-made consumer-class routers that had been placed on the agency’s “covered list” of equipment and services deemed to be a national security risk to the nation’s communications networks.

The Department of Defense has granted conditional approvals, effective today and extending to Feb. 3, 2028, to Askey Computer Corp.’s ASK-NCM1100, ASK-NCM1100E, AKS-NCM3000, and ASK-NCQ8000 routers and to Zyxel Communications, Inc.’s EE4210-00, EE6610-00, and 5GNR (NR5331) routers, the bureau announced in a public notice in WT docket 18-89, ET docket 21-232, and EA docket 21-233. The conditional approvals exempt the routers from the covered list.
