    The website includes new data on retirement eligibility, telework and remote work, administrative leave, performance ratings, and federal hiring activity.

    OPM has announced the launch of the Federal Workforce Data (FWD) website, which replaces the FedScope system and is intended to provide speedier and more transparent access to federal workforce data. According to the agency, the new site will provide monthly updates, interactive visualizations, downloadable datasets, and increased transparency around data quality.

    “The Federal Workforce Data website delivers timely, transparent data in a format that is easy to use and built for the future,” OPM Director Scott Kupor said. “This is a major step forward for accountability and data-driven decision-making across government.”

    It also expands publicly available workforce information, according to the announcement, including new data on retirement eligibility, telework and remote work, administrative leave, performance ratings, and federal hiring activity.

    OPM states that the “launch represents just the beginning” and that it will iterate on the platform as user feedback is received. OPM expects to provide new enhancements on an ongoing basis.

    Available data. “Interactive visuals” are available for six categories of data, including:

    • Workforce size and composition, which includes filters for fiscal year, department, agency, subagency, occupational series, appointment types, and bargaining unit status;

    • Workforce changes, which includes information about accessions, separations, and other key personnel actions and currently reflects the loss of nearly 220,000 jobs by federal employees since the beginning of the second Trump administration;

    • Compensation, performance, and leave, including, among other things, information about how many employees are in particular pay plans and grades, information about average salaries, and information about performance ratings distribution;

    • Federal recruitment, including information about the number of job openings, the agency involved, their locations; and changes in job announcement numbers over time;

    • Demographics, including information about the makeup of the federal workforce by age, education, and veteran status; and

    • Location, including the distribution of employees by location, location by agency and state, and information about the use of telework and remote work.
