Dealers will replace the brake master cylinder and flush the brake fluid to remedy the issue.

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling about 995 2021 Palisade vehicles because the brake fluid may be contaminated, which can cause the brake master cylinder inner-cup seals to swell, and, thus, reduce braking performance. The consequential reduced braking performance can extend the distance required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash (NHTSA Recall Notice, No. 21V840, Report receipt date: October 27, 2021).

Remedy. Dealers will replace the brake master cylinder and flush the brake fluid, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 22, 2021.

Contact information. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai’s number for the recall is 212. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
