    The Chicago office of K&L Gates LLP has added Vivek G. Bhatt as a partner in its debt capital markets practice. Bhatt joins K&L Gates from Vedder Price.

    An experienced financial transactions lawyer, Bhatt acts on a wide range of asset-backed securities and complex financial transactions. His primary focus is on the securitization of transportation assets, including commercial aircraft loans and leases, railcar leases, and shipping containers; accounts receivables; auto loans and leases; equipment loans; residential mortgages; senior life settlements; and insurance premium finance loans and contracts, as well as in the negotiation of financial guaranty insurance policies and derivative products. Bhatt represents underwriters, placement agents, lenders, commercial banks and their commercial paper conduits, issuers, borrowers, sponsors, servicers, and guarantors.

    “Vivek’s broad securitization practice further strengthens the firm’s finance offerings, especially our global transportation finance, capital markets, and structured finance practices,” said Alan Barry, administrative partner of K&L Gates’ Chicago office, according to the firm’s announcement.
