About 1.5 million OCOOPA rechargeable hand warmers are being recalled because their lithium-ion batteries can overheat and ignite, posing fire and burn hazards that can result in serious injury or death. The recall affects multiple models of the hand warmers, which were imported by Shenzhen Street Cat Technology Co., Ltd., doing business as OCOOPA Direct, of China (CPSC Recall Notice, No. 26-659 (July 30, 2026)).

Incidents and injuries. OCOOPA Direct has received 1,480 reports of the hand warmers overheating. The company said the incidents resulted in 15 fires and 350 burn injuries, including the death of an 83-year-old consumer in San Diego, California, in February 2026.

Product description. The recall involves OCOOPA-branded rechargeable lithium-ion battery hand warmers, models UT3053, UT3056, ZLS-118, ZLS-118S, ZLS-118D, H01, and H01(PD). The dual-sided hand warmers were sold in various colors and designs in packs of two that can be magnetically joined together. The packs include a charging cable. The products feature a USB-C charging port, adjustable heat settings, LED indicator lights, and a silicone lanyard.

The products were manufactured in China and sold online at Amazon.com, Ocoopa.com, Ocoopa.net, and Walmart.com from September 2018 through May 2026 for between $15 and $60.

Remedy. Consumers should stop using the recalled hand warmers immediately and contact OCOOPA Direct for a full refund in the form of an OCOOPA gift card or the original form of payment. To receive the refund, consumers must mark the hand warmer with the word “RECALLED” in permanent marker and submit a photo showing the marking, model number, and three-digit batch number to https://www.ocoopa.com/pages/product-recalls. Consumers are also instructed to dispose of the recalled lithium-ion battery devices in accordance with applicable state and local hazardous waste regulations.

Customer contact. Consumers can contact OCOOPA Direct by email at ocooparecalls@ocoopa.cc for more information about the recall. Additional information is available at https://www.ocoopa.com/pages/product-recalls, where consumers can obtain instructions regarding refunds and the recall process.
