Bayer is recalling about 786,100 unexpired Travel Size Afrin® Original Nasal Spray 6 mL Bottles because the spray contains an imidazoline and the packaging is not child-resistant, posing a risk of serious injury or illness from poisoning if swallowed by young children. The bottles also fail to meet the labeling requirements for non-complying packaging under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (CPSC Recall Notice, No. 26-455 (Apr. 30, 2026)).

Incidents and injuries. No incidents or injuries have been reported.

Product description. Affected products can be identified by specific lot numbers: 230361, 240822, 241198, 250066, 250152, 250646, and 250831. The bottles are labeled “Afrin® Original Nasal Spray” and “1/5 FL OZ (6 mL)” on the front, with a six-digit lot number followed by an expiration date in the format “YYYYMMM.” No other Afrin products or sizes are included in the recall.

The products were sold at convenience stores and travel hubs, including airports, from September 2024 through April 2026 for approximately $7 to $9.

Remedy. Consumers are advised to immediately secure the recalled bottles out of sight and reach of children and to stop using them. To receive a refund, consumers must complete a recall webform and submit a photo of the product before disposing of it.
