    Consumer Product Safety Commission actions, with links to source documents, are open for public comment until the dates indicated.

    As detailed in previous Products Liability Law Daily stories, the following Consumer Product Safety Commission actions are open for public comment until the dates indicated below. Comments may be submitted to the docket number identified in the heading of the document by any of the following methods: Federal eRulemaking Portal: Go to http://www.regulations.gov. Follow the online instructions for submitting comments. Mail/Hand delivery/Courier (for paper, disk, or CD-ROM submissions), preferably in five copies, to: Office of the Secretary, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Room 820, 4330 East West Highway, Bethesda, MD 20814; telephone (301) 504-7923.

    February 28, 2025. CPSC has issued a direct final rule updating the mandatory safety standard for play yards to incorporate by reference the most recent version of the voluntary standard, ASTM F406-24, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Non-Full-Size Baby Cribs/Play Yards. The rule will take effect on April 5, 2025, unless CPSC receives a significant adverse comment by February 28, 2025. If such a comment is received, the Commission will publish a notice in the Federal Register withdrawing the direct final rule before its effective date (CPSC Direct final rule, 90 Fed. Reg. 8368 (Jan. 29, 2025); Correction, 90 Fed. Reg. 9608 (Feb. 14, 2025)).

    March 3, 2025. CPSC has issued a direct final rule updating the mandatory safety standard for non-full-size cribs to incorporate by reference the most recent version of the voluntary standard, ASTM F406-24, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Non-Full-Size Baby Cribs/Play Yards, except for the sections that apply exclusively to play yards. The rule will take effect on April 5, 2025, unless CPSC receives a significant adverse comment by March 3, 2025. If such a comment is received, the Commission will publish a notice in the Federal Register withdrawing the direct final rule before its effective date (CPSC Direct final rule, 90 Fed. Reg. 8676 (Jan. 31, 2025); Correction, 90 Fed. Reg. 9608 (Feb. 14, 2025)).
