About 84,000 Melissa & Doug Lights & Sounds Fire Truck Activity Board toys are being recalled because the fire hose port can come loose and detach, posing a risk of serious injury from a choking hazard (CPSC Recall Notice, No. 26-780 (Sept. 17, 2026)).

Incidents and injuries. Melissa & Doug has received 26 reports of the small port coming loose on the product. The company also received one report of a minor cut. No other injuries have been reported.

Product description. The recalled product is the Melissa & Doug Lights & Sounds Fire Truck Activity Board, a red plastic fire engine toy with spinning wheels, a white rotating ladder, lights and sounds, and a black plastic connector designed to resemble a fire hose. The toy measures about 10.5 inches high, 14.31 inches wide, and 3.06 inches deep, and weighs about 1.6 pounds. Recalled units have date wheels on the battery compartment with arrows pointing to either year 25 and month 4 or 5, or year 26 and month 3. Packaging for affected units bears date codes OET 25100, OET 25150 or OET 26064.

The toys were sold exclusively at Target stores nationwide and online at Target.com from July 2025 through August 2026 for about $30. The products were manufactured in China.

Remedy. Consumers should stop using the recalled fire truck activity boards immediately. Melissa & Doug is offering consumers a free replacement fire truck activity board, a full refund of $30 by check, or a $40 credit for use on MelissaandDoug.com. To obtain a remedy, consumers must register online, remove the batteries, write “RECALL” and a unique code on the front of the toy, cut off the black hose, and upload a photo of the destroyed product. After registration is confirmed, consumers should dispose of the toy in household trash.
