The agency is aware of one child who needed surgery after swallowing about 50 magnets.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission is urging consumers to stop using Girigi Magnetic Building Blocks and Cubes immediately, warning that magnets inside the products can become loose if the blocks break or open, creating a risk of serious injury or death if swallowed by children. Consumers should dispose of the products immediately and not sell, donate, or give them away (CPSC Product Safety Warning, No. 26-729 (Aug. 27, 2026)).
Incidents and injuries. The agency said it is aware of one incident in which a child ingested about 50 magnets from the blocks. The child required surgery to remove the magnets and repair holes in the small intestine. CPSC also cited at least one online consumer review reporting that the blocks broke or opened, allowing magnets to become loose and accessible.
