Debbie Feinstein, FTC Bureau of Competition Director, recently announced several promotions at the Bureau.

Alexis Gilman has been promoted to Assistant Director of the Mergers IV Division. He was a member of the trial team in FTC v. ProMedica in both the federal court preliminary injunction hearing and the Commission’s administrative trial. Gilman was appointed the Deputy Assistant Director of Mergers IV two years ago and has supervised the Division’s merger work in a wide range of industries.

Also joining the Mergers IV management team is Mark Seidman, who has been promoted to Deputy Assistant Director. Seidman came to the Commission in 2005, working in the Mergers I Division, where he reviewed mergers involving pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and Internet advertising. He also served as Counsel to the Director and as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.

James Weiss is now a Deputy Assistant Director of the Mergers I Division, joining Dan Zach and Mike Moiseyev in overseeing the Bureau’s merger work in health care, defense, and technology markets. Weiss has played a key role in a number of pharmaceutical industry consent orders and in investigations involving animal health products, the defense industry, and consumer products.
