Former prosecutor for the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division Paula L. Blizzard has been named Deputy Bureau Chief for the Federal Communications Commission’s Enforcement Bureau, the agency recently announced. Blizzard was previously a partner with litigation boutique firm Keker & Van Nest LLP in San Francisco.

While at Keker & Van Nest LLP, Blizzard focused her practice on complex business litigation, including antitrust and patent cases, and government antitrust investigations. Before joining Keker & Van Nest in 2004, Blizzard served as a trial attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division in San Francisco, and also as special counsel for Microsoft Consent Decree Enforcement, where she reported directly to the United States Assistant Attorney General for Antitrust in Washington, D.C. She worked extensively on United States v. Microsoft and was on the United States v. Oracle trial team.

“Paula Blizzard brings tremendous experience leading and managing complex high-profile cases,” said Travis LeBlanc, Acting Chief of the Enforcement Bureau. “Her prosecutorial experience will enhance our competition work and strengthen our efforts to protect consumers from unfair, unjust, unreasonable, and deceptive acts and practices.”

Blizzard has an undergraduate degree in physics and literature from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received her law degree from the University of California, Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law. Following law school, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable D. Lowell Jensen of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and worked in the aerospace sector on NASA communications systems before becoming an attorney.
