The FCC today announced a pair of cyber workshops to be held next month.

The Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau will hold a workshop for broadcasters on May 14 and one for telecom carriers on May 15.

Both events are scheduled to start at 10 a.m. in the FCC’s meeting room.

“The event will bring together public- and private-sector representatives to raise awareness of emerging cybersecurity risks, share and promote adoption of best practices, and highlight opportunities for public-private partnership on cybersecurity issues facing telecommunications carriers, including ransomware attacks and advanced persistent threats,” according to a public notice on the second workshop. “Panelists and presenters will offer practical guidance to help executives and security leaders—particularly at small- and medium-sized carriers—to strengthen cybersecurity resilience and improve incident response across the telecommunications sector.”

The workshops can also be viewed at www.fcc.gov/live. Although the workshops are free, the FCC is asking remote and in-person attendees to register at https://www.fcc.gov/form/public-safety-homeland-security.
