    By Charles A. Menke, J.D.

Warren contended that data for the report has been collected and is ready for release notwithstanding that the Department of Labor previously indicated it would not publish key economic reports during a government shutdown.

Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) has written to Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought and Bureau of Labor Statistics Acting Commissioner William Wiatrowski requesting release of the September Employment Situation report. Release of the report, scheduled for October 3, appears to be delayed due to the government shutdown, according to a Washington Postarticle (behind a paywall).

In the letter, Warren, Ranking Member of the Senate Banking Committee, said that the report’s data “is likely ready for public release” and that “the Administration is choosing not to release” it. According to Warren, “[w]ithholding this data would undermine the Fed’s ability to make informed decisions that affect every American household through interest rates, the job market, and price stability.”
