Romania's Finance Ministry has announced excise duty on diesel will be cut during the remainder of August.

The Ministry has confirmed that the excise duty rate will be reduced by 20 percent between August 16 and August 31, 2026, in response to market prices.

"The measure responds to the significant increase in international quotations and pump prices and aims to limit the pressure on the population and the economy," the Government said.

The excise duty rate on diesel will be RON2,243.43 (USD496) per 1,000 liters, or RON2,654.99 per ton.
