Global Daily Tax News, Liechtenstein Extends August VAT Return Deadline, (Aug 18, 2026)
Liechtenstein has announced an extension to the deadline for filing value-added tax returns for the second quarter and for the first half of 2026.
The statutory deadline is 60 days following the end of the accounting period – that is, by the end of August 2026, for both sets of returns.
The tax authority has announced, "As the eMWST portal is currently unavailable, the deadline for submitting VAT returns for the second quarter of 2026 and the first half of 2026 is being extended by 30 days; consequently, the deadline for submitting these returns is now the end of September 2026. All other filing deadlines expiring in August are likewise extended to the end of September 2026."
The extension affects only tax return filing. Payment of VAT liability for the two periods must be made by the end of August 2026.
