The Norwegian Government is considering tax breaks to foster a circular economy.

The measures are intended to promote the use of products for as long as possible, including through repair, improvement, and reuse, and subsequently through recycling the goods into raw materials for new products. They were proposed by an expert group, in a new report prepared for the Climate and Environment Minister.

The measures under consideration include a tax on plastic packaging; an industry scheme for the repair of electronic goods; and a tax on textiles, based on weight or quantity.
