CMS reopened the comment period for a proposed Medicaid and CHIP information collection after identifying an error in a revised eligibility template.

CMS is reopening the comment period for a previously issued notice on proposed Medicaid and CHIP information collection activities due to an error in posting a revised eligibility template. The issue involved the S89 template on citizenship and noncitizen eligibility, which included substantive updates tied to limits on federal funding for certain noncitizen groups. Because the original April 22, 2026 notice provided an inaccurate version of the template for part of the comment period, CMS is allowing an additional 12 days for public review and comment. The reopened comment period closes on May 26, 2026 (Notice, 91 Fed. Reg. 25892 (May 12, 2026)).

Dates. The comment period for the notice that published on April 22, 2026 (91 FR 21505) is reopened. Comments must be received by May 26, 2026.
