Holland & Knight LLP has added former FTC regional director and well-known governmental consumer protection investigations attorney Anthony DiResta to its Washington, D.C. office. DiResta joins as a partner from Winston & Strawn.

DiResta concentrates his practice on investigations concerning deceptive, unfair, or abusive business practices; charges of false advertising; and privacy and data security matters. He has successfully represented companies and individuals in over 50 investigations and litigations involving the FTC, the Consumer Financial Protection Board (CFPB), the Justice Department, and other federal agencies. DiResta received his undergraduate degree from Rollins College, his graduate degree from Harvard University, and his law degree from Florida State University.

“Tony is a seasoned advocate with a track record of successful results for clients, with many in crisis or ‘bet-the-company’ situations,” stated the leader of Holland & Knight’s Washington, D.C. Litigation Group, Lynn Calkins. “His experience defending investigations and enforcement actions brought by the CFPB is especially valuable given the continued growth of the agency’s mission in both size and scope and the resulting impact on the companies that we represent in the financial services industry.”

“Holland & Knight provides a strong platform on which to expand my practice, particularly with respect to CFPB-related litigation and enforcement for both banking and non-banking financial institutions,” DiResta said. “One of the core strengths of the firm is its national financial services team, and I look forward to helping my new colleagues service the needs of their clients in this growing area of the law.”

Holland & Knight is an international law firm with more than 1,000 attorneys and other professionals in 23 offices across Anchorage, Atlanta, Austin, Bogotá, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Lakeland, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Miami, New York, Northern Virginia, Orlando, Portland, San Francisco, Tallahassee, Tampa, Washington, D.C., and West Palm Beach.
