Jeffrey H. Perry, Assistant Director of the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition, will join Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP as a partner based in the Washington, DC office, the firm announced today. Perry will be part of the firm’s Global Antitrust/Competition Practice.

For the past 13 years, Perry has practiced law at the FTC, rising to the position of Assistant Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Competition. In this role, he leads a division of more than 30 attorneys responsible for antitrust investigations and litigation in some of the agency’s most important matters, and some of the economy’s fastest growing and most scrutinized industries.

Prior to becoming Assistant Director, Perry served in a number of important positions, including Special Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Columbia, where he first-chaired more than 20 criminal trials, and Counsel to the Director of the Bureau of Competition, where he oversaw merger and non-merger cases across a range of industries. Before being promoted to Assistant Director, he served as the Deputy Assistant Director of the Bureau of Competition.

"Jeff is one of the most well-respected antitrust officials in the government and we are thrilled that he has chosen to join Weil," said Executive Partner Barry M. Wolf. "In addition to the high-level government experience he brings, Jeff has worked with and across the table from most of the members of our antitrust group on numerous merger reviews, and we know he will be a great fit with the Firm."

Founded in 1931, Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP is an international law, with approximately 1,200 lawyers located in 20 offices worldwide. Weil's Antitrust/Competition Practice has nearly 40 lawyers and includes several partners who previously held senior positions at the Federal Trade Commission. The practice represents clients before the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Trade Commission, and state antitrust enforcement agencies on a full spectrum of mergers and acquisitions, investigative and litigation matters. The practice also regularly appears before the European Commission and other regulatory bodies in the European Union, Eastern Europe, and Asia.
