Antitrust Law Daily Wrap Up, LAW FIRM NEWS: Amy Cheng receives IFA’s Crystal Compass Award, (Feb 22, 2016)

The International Franchise Association’s (IFA) Women’s Franchise Committee has honored Amy Cheng, a partner and co-founder of Cheng Cohen LLC, with the Crystal Compass Award. The Crystal Compass is awarded for outstanding leadership, according to the IFA’s announcement.

Cheng concentrates her practice on franchise, licensing, and distribution law, as well as domestic and international commercial transactions and general corporate law. She represents franchisors on the structuring and operation of their franchise programs through all phases of development. In addition, Cheng represents non-U.S. based franchisors expanding into the U.S. market. She has significant experience structuring and drafting agreements for complex franchise, licensing, and distribution relationships and in regulatory compliance.

“Cheng has been a leader in fostering franchise relationships within the franchise industry,” the IFA’s announcement stated. “She is an active participating with IFA’s Legal Symposium serving as Task Force Chair for 2015-2016 and Vice Chair for 2013-2014. Under Cheng’s leadership, the 2015 Legal Symposium received an overall conference evaluation [] score of 97.4 percent, up from 92.9 percent the previous year and received a score of over 94 percent in each of the five categories that were evaluated, which has not been done since 2010.”
