“When Luigi Mangione shot the CEO of UnitedHealthcare last month, I thought I heard echoes of the Anarchist Movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.”

In this month’s Labor Pulse, Jim Castagnera thinks about the implications of the coming second Trump administration with a look back to U.S. labor history of the 1890s and early 20th century, when union busting “meant the actual busting of heads.”

Noting two recent pieces of good news for labor this month, however, the return of SEIU to the AFL-CIO and the settlement of the East and Gulf Coast dockworkers’ strike, Jim observes that the prospects of organized labor are indeed very different than 125 years ago.

To learn more about these developments, enjoy Jim’s latest Labor Pulse article, “A Look (Way) Back and (a Little Bit) Forward, as Big Labor Braces for Trump II.”
