The Isle of Man Treasury has confirmed that the Alcohol Duty Stamps Scheme will end on July 1, 2025.

From this date, businesses will no longer need to register, obtain, or apply Alcohol Duty stamps to retail containers previously covered by the scheme.

The Treasury has confirmed, "All registrations and authorizations under the scheme will automatically terminate without requiring any action from businesses. Additionally, businesses will no longer need to adhere to the scheme's rules for removing stamps or maintaining new records related to stamped containers from July 1, 2025. However, existing records for retail containers stamped before the scheme's end must be retained for at least three years from the date the record was made."

"Retail containers already stamped before July 1, 2025, will remain unaffected. Businesses can continue to supply these containers as usual and are not required to remove or destroy the stamps. However, they are free to remove them without restriction and without notifying Customs and Immigration. As stamps are no longer required from July 1, 2025, any unused stamps after this date should be securely destroyed by shredding."

"The presence or absence of a stamp on an alcoholic product will not impact other legal responsibilities including due diligence related to the supply of those products," the Treasury confirmed. It added: "Currently, there are no plans to replace the scheme. Customs and HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) will continue to monitor the need for anti-fraud measures concerning alcohol products and the supply chain."
