Yarowsky, previously with the firm of Patton Boggs LLP, has focused his practice on providing strategic advice to clients on a range of legislative and policy issues, including those in the areas of antitrust, telecommunications, intellectual property, and administrative practice and procedure. He also maintains an extensive practice in the areas of antitrust representation and congressional investigations.
Prior to entering private practice in 1998, Yarowsky served as Special Counsel to former President Bill Clinton, providing advice on legislative and policy issues, including telecommunications, antitrust, and crime policy matters. Yarowsky also directed the selection and confirmation of federal judicial nominees during this period. In 2004, Yarowsky served as Vice Chairman of the Joint Presidential/Congressional Antitrust Modernization Commission, and also served as a congressionally-appointed member of the National Commission on Crime in 1995.
Before assuming his position at the White House, Yarowsky served as General Counsel of the House Committee on the Judiciary, where he supervised a staff of 40 lawyers. Yarowsky also developed a series of antitrust bills that were signed into law, as well as legislation in the areas of telecommunications, financial services, insurance, banking, civil justice and international trade. He previously served as Chief Counsel of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Economic and Commercial Law, where he worked on antitrust and competition policy in close association with the Department of Justice Antitrust Division and the FTC.
"WilmerHale is thrilled that Jon Yarowsky will be joining the firm," said Randolph D. Moss, chair of WilmerHale's Regulatory and Government Affairs Department. "Jon is first and foremost a great attorney, and he is one of the nation's most accomplished government relations lawyers. He has an unparalleled understanding of how Congress works and how to get things done in Washington."
"Jon's ability to provide sage counsel on public policy issues and legislative work will be of enormous benefit to our clients,” Bob Novick, co-managing partner for WilmerHale, added. “He is bringing years of experience working with Congress, the federal agencies, and the federal judiciary, along with demonstrated counseling capabilities. We are delighted that Jon is joining the firm and look forward to working with him on the types of Washington-based challenges that are so important to businesses today."
Yarowsky received his J.D. from the University of California-Los Angeles Law School in 1977, an M.S. from Cornell University in 1974, and an A.B. from the University of Michigan in 1971.
