The City of Chicago announced changes to ground transportation tax reporting and payment requirements for livery plate holders, effective July 1, 2026. City-issued livery plate holders will pay a monthly tax of $98.00 for each vehicle instead of $3.50 each day. Tax payments for accounts with 1 or 2 plates are due annually. So, the due date is July 15, 2027 for fiscal year July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027. Quarterly payments are due by the 15th day of the month after the end of each quarter for accounts with 3 or more plates. Accounts will no longer need to file ground transportation tax returns beginning July 1, 2026. The automatic $3.50 daily charge for airport pickups in Chicago will also no longer apply.
