Global Daily Tax News, Greece To Replace Stamp Duty Framework, (Jun 20, 2024)
Greece's Council of Ministers has approved a proposal to replace stamp duty with a new transaction tax.
The new regime is intended to modernize Greece's rules. It will apply to transactions specified as liable in law that involve at least one taxpayer that is tax resident in Greece or has a permanent establishment there, but not to transactions liable to other indirect taxes.
According to the Government, the new regime will result in the removal of stamp duty on several transactions and provide greater certainty regarding scope and liability.
