Customers will receive a full refund after submitting proof that the helmet’s straps have been cut.
Two separate recalls have been issued for a combined 3,595 children’s multi purpose helmets. Both brands—SAMIT and Semfri—fail to meet mandatory federal bicycle helmet safety standards because they do not comply with the positional stability and certification requirements. The helmets, which were manufactured in China, could leave users unprotected in a crash, creating a risk of head injury or death. The Semfri helmets also fail to meet impact attenuation and labeling requirements.
Incidents and injuries. No incidents or injuries have been reported with either product.
SAMIT helmets. The first recall covers SAMIT Youth Multi Purpose Helmets, with about 3,295 units affected. These one size children’s helmets fit head circumferences of approximately 21 to 23 inches and were sold in “crack” blue, red, and black designs, as well as pure black. The helmets include gray padding, black straps, a black and red buckle, and a black rear adjustment knob. They were sold on Amazon.com between March and November 2025 by Samit Outdoor, of China, for between $28 and $33 (CPSC Recall Notice, No. 26-277 (Feb. 19, 2026)).
Semfri helmets. The second recall involves about 300 Semfri Children’s Helmets, sold in size medium and fitting head circumferences of about 20.5 to 22.8 inches. They were offered in multiple colors, all featuring black padding, black straps, a black buckle, and a rear adjustment knob. The helmets were sold on Walmart.com between June and November 2025 by Semfri, of China, for between $19 and $28 (CPSC Recall Notice, No. 26-239 (Feb. 5, 2026)).
Remedy. Each recall provides a refund remedy. SAMIT consumers must cut the helmet straps, photograph the destroyed helmet, and email the image to usjialebei@foxmail.com. Semfri consumers must similarly cut the straps, photograph the destroyed helmet, and submit the image to Semfri_recall@163.com. Consumers are instructed to discontinue use of the helmets immediately.
