As detailed in previous Products Liability Law Daily stories, the following Consumer Product Safety Commission actions are open for public comment until the dates indicated below. Comments may be submitted to the docket number identified in the heading of the document by any of the following methods: Federal eRulemaking Portal: Go to http://www.regulations.gov. September 16, 2024. CPSC has published its semiannual regulatory flexibility agenda, which includes regulatory actions that the agency expects to develop or review during the next 12 months (CPSC Notice, 89 Fed. Reg. 66904 (Aug. 16, 2024)).
September 23, 2024. CPSC is announcing the availability of, and inviting comments on, details about incident data relevant to a 2023 notice of proposed rulemaking regarding infant and infant/toddler rockers. The proposed rule addresses risks of death and injury from suffocations, falls, and other hazards associated with the products (CPSC Proposed rule; availability of supplemental information; request for comment, 89 Fed. Reg. 67917 (Aug. 22, 2024)).
September 30, 2024. CPSC has proposed a rule to declare that any aerosol duster canister containing more than 18 mg in any combination of two hydrofluorocarbon propellants—HFC-152a (1,1-difluoroethane) and HFC-134a (1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane)—is a “banned hazardous substance” under the Federal Hazardous Substances Act (CPSC Notice of proposed rulemaking, 89 Fed. Reg. 61363 (July 31, 2024)).
October 15, 2024. CPSC has proposed a rule to add performance and labeling requirements for toys containing button cell and coin cell batteries (CPSC Notice of proposed rulemaking, 89 Fed. Reg. 65791 (Aug. 13, 2024)).
