Cybersecurity Policy Report, CPPA to Discuss Proposed Regulations at Board Meeting, (Sep 25, 2024)

The California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA) board is scheduled to meet on Oct. 4 to discuss the progress made on several proposed regulations implementing the provisions of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

According to the meeting agenda, the board will specifically review proposed regulation sections 7600 through 7605, which, when finalized, will implement data broker registration requirements as added by the Delete Act approved last year. The discussion will include possible adoption or modification of the regulatory text.

In addition, the board’s general counsel will provide an update on the development and implementation of the delete request and opt-out platform that the CPPA is required to establish under the Delete Act. The board also will conduct a discussion and potentially take action to advance draft regulations to the formal rulemaking process regarding updates to existing regulations and new provisions regarding insurance, cybersecurity audits, risk assessments, and automated decision making.

The meeting will be conducted both in person in San Francisco and via audio and video teleconference, as outlined in the agenda.
