The FTC and the Department of Justice Antitrust Division have announced the agenda and panelists for the joint workshop, which will be held on June 23 in Washington, D.C, to explore the economic and legal analysis of conditional pricing practices among firms in a supply chain. Announced in early May, the workshop, which will consist of presentations and roundtable discussions, will focus on conditional pricing arrangements – practices in which prices are explicitly or effectively contingent on commitments to purchase or sell a specified share or volume of a single product or a mix of multiple products.

A principal goal of the workshop will be to advance the economic understanding of the potential harms and benefits of conditional pricing practices and to reexamine their treatment under the antitrust laws. Speakers and panelists will focus primarily on economic learning and law and policy issues related to conditional pricing practices.

William Baer, Assistant Attorney General in charge of the Antitrust Division, will begin the workshop with welcome remarks. FTC Commissioner Maureen Ohlhausen will present an introduction.

The seminar moderators are Patrick DeGraba, FTC Bureau of Economics; Patrick Greenlee from the Antitrust Division Economic Analysis Group; Michael G. Vita, Director for Research and Management, FTC Bureau of Economics; Matthew C. Mandelberg from the Antitrust Division Legal Policy Section; Daniel P. O’Brien, Senior Economic Policy Advisor, FTC Bureau of Economics; Michael J. Bloom, Associate Director for Office of Policy and Coordination, FTC Bureau of Competition; Robert Potter, Legal Policy Section Chief at the Antitrust Division; Andrea Zach, FTC Bureau of Competition; Samuel N. Weinstein, Legal Policy Section at the Antitrust Division; , FTC Bureau of Competition Director Deborah L. Feinstein; and Renata B. Hesse, Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Criminal and Civil Operations at the Antitrust Division.

The all-day workshop, free and open to the public, will be held at the Constitution Center located at 400 7th Street, SW, Washington, D.C.
