Cybersecurity Policy Report, CNIL Finalizes Guidance on Securing Health Data in National Registry, (Jun 25, 2024)
By Tony Foley
The French data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés (CNIL), today said it had published a set of practical sheets, in conjunction with the Secure Access Data Center (CASD), presenting examples of properly secured health data in the context of authorization requests when the matching of health data with the National Health Data System (SNDS) requires the processing of a directory registration number (NIR).
The practical sheets, which may be accessed from CNIL’s news release but are available only in French, are designed to augment a practical guide published in 2020 (also downloadable from the press release but available only in French). They provide concrete examples of the implementation of data circuits with SNDS, presenting variants of different circuits, chosen for their educational aspect and for their representativeness of the practical cases encountered by CNIL and the CASD.
