Bolivia's federal tax agency has announced the launch of a new tool that enables taxpayers to check information received by the tax agency from electronic invoices.

The new module – Correction and Payment of Invoices Observed in the Purchases and Sales Registry (RCV) – is intended to highlight anomolies in taxpayer's filings, enabling taxpayers to make corrections without fines or sanctions.

Upon launching the tool, the tax agency's President, Mario Cazon, stated: "For several years, taxpayers have asked [the federal tax agency] to let them know in a preventive manner which invoices were observed in the Registry of Purchases and Sales by the Tax Administration".

"This module will allow the taxpayer, in real time, to verify the details of the invoices that have been observed by the Tax Administration, which appear in the Purchases and Sales Registry."

Among other things, the service will also highlight duplicate invoices and cancelled invoices.

The tax agency noted that the new tool will also enable both buyers and sellers of goods and services to verify in real time and online the information contained in a digital invoice.

"When it is an online invoice," Cazon said, "we have all the information of that electronic invoice in the National Tax database in a matter of seconds and the seller receives the invoice and also the buyer of the good or service, with all the security measures. That is, an online invoice is not cloned, it is not falsified."

The tax agency intends to notify taxpayers on a monthly basis of potential issues identified in invoices, enabling corrections within 60 days without penalties.
