The Attorney General for the State of Oregon has agreed to settle its claims against LG Electronics in the multidistrict class action litigation against cathode ray tube (CRT) manufacturers for an alleged international price fixing conspiracy, according to a letter filed with the federal district court in San Francisco on May 17 (In re Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) Antitrust Litigation, Tigar, J.).
In August 2012, the Oregon Attorney General filed suit, on behalf of the State of Oregon and Oregon residents, against numerous foreign CRT manufacturers and their domestic subsidiaries, including LG Electronics, for violations of the Oregon Antitrust Act. The suit sought restitution, civil penalties, equitable relief, and injunctive relief. The Attorney General alleged that the plaintiffs were indirect purchasers of CRTs made by the defendants that were ultimately incorporated into their finished products, such as televisions or computer monitors.
The terms of the settlement were not disclosed in the letter.
The case is No. 07-cv-05944-JST, MDL No. 1917.
