“USA Class” is the name of the new tool and Director Scott Kupor claims it is the “opening move in OPM’s broader push to bring federal HR information technology into the modern era of artificial intelligence.”

In a blog entitled “Secrets of OPM,” Director Scott Kupor announced yesterday that OPM has a new AI-powered tool that can automate the creation of position descriptions, which serve as the “roadmap for the interview process with the goal of best matching applicants to the specific skills needed for the role.” However, he describes the creation of those descriptions and the assignment of appropriate job titles, occupational series, and pay levels to them as “one of the most stubborn bottlenecks” between agencies and necessary talent. Thus, the creation of an AI tool.

“But USA Class is bigger than a single product—it’s the opening move in OPM’s broader push to bring federal HR information technology into the modern era of artificial intelligence,” Kupor states. “We’re just getting started.”

According to further information provided by OPM, USA Class has been integrated directly into the federal government’s primary hiring platform and it will start rolling out to USA Staffing users in early May. OPM has also provided a video regarding the announcement.
