Global Daily Tax News, US Delays Tariffs On Pharmaceuticals, Wooden Goods, (Oct 6, 2025)
The US Administration has paused imposition of the proposed 100 percent tariffs on pharmaceutical products, which had been due to be introduced from October 1, 2025.
The Government said the decision came after concessions were offered by drug makers, including Pfizer, which committed to invest heavily into establishing US manufacturing operations.
Meanwhile, the Administration has also issued an Executive Order confirming that the earlier proposed 25 percent tariff rate on certain upholstered wooden products will be implemented from October 14, 2025, rather than from October 1, 2025, and a 10 percent tariff will apply from the same date on softwood timber and lumber.
