Consumers are directed to contact Cheyenne Products for refund information.

Cheyenne Products LLC of Austin, Texas, is recalling approximately 795,000 Cheyenne Products Mainstay folding metal padded chairs and barstools because the weld attaching the legs to the seat bottom can break, posing a fall hazard (CPSC Recall Notice, No. 21-137, May 19, 2021).

Incidents and injuries. The firm has received 41 reports of incidents of the weld connecting the legs to the bottom of the chair breaking, resulting in 19 injuries, including four reports of fractures and one report of a torn ligament.

Product description. The recall involves multiple styles of metal folding chairs and barstools with padded seats upholstered in vinyl or microfiber and sold under the Mainstay brand name. A white sticker label on the bottom of the seats includes the name Cheyenne Products or Cheyenne Industries and lists the production date by month and year. Another white sticker label on the bottom of the seat displays a barcode with the model number printed above the barcode and the UPC printed below the barcode. The recalled folding chairs and barstools were manufactured in China; and they were sold exclusively at Walmart stores nationwide and Walmart.com from January 2014 through April 2021, for between $30 and $42.

A list of the model numbers-with associated UPC bar codes and product descriptions-of the recalled products may be found on the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/.

Remedy. Consumers should stop using the recalled folding chairs and barstools immediately and contact Cheyenne for a full refund.

Important CPSC Recall Remedy Notice Due to COVID-19. CPSC is advising consumers that because of the extraordinary circumstances surrounding COVID-19, some of the remedies identified in recall notices may not be currently available. Consumers should check with the recalling companies for further details. Moreover, the agency notice reminds consumers that CPSC and the recalling firms urge consumers not to use recalled products.
