Cybersecurity Policy Report, STRATEGIC PERSPECTIVES: Lawyers at WilmerHale Outline Proposed DELETE Act Regulations, (Sep 17, 2024)
The California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA) released a notice of proposed regulatory action in July regarding proposed regulations to implement the recently enacted Delete Act (S.B. 362 (Ch. 709), Reg. Sess., Cal. 2023) (CPR, July 8). In a recent article, a group of lawyers from WilmerHale summarized the primary provisions of the proposed rules, including clarifications to the definitions of “data broker” and “minor” in the Delete Act, as well as implementing what they term a broad definition of “reproductive health care data” subject to the law’s requirements, among other provisions. The article also discusses some of the comments offered at the CPPA’s hearing on the rules, which was conducted on Aug. 20, the same day the public comment period ended.
