The South African Revenue Service has added a new Turnover Tax registration functionality to its SARS Online Query System (SOQS).

The addition follows the introduction of Donations Tax (IT144) and Withholding Tax on Royalties (WTR01) declarations to the system earlier this year.

SOQS enables taxpayers to engage with the tax agency digitally, doing away with the requirement to instead visit a branch, Among other numerous other things, it can be used to appoint a tax representative, register for certain taxes, and request a tax number. The tax agency has been adding to the services offered through the system over the past years.
