The SEC chair, commissioners, and senior staff will provide updates on the Commission’s activities at the Practising Law Institute’s (PLI) annual “SEC Speaks” program. The program, to be held in Washington, D.C., on February 21 and 22, and webcast live, features speakers from the Divisions of Economic and Risk Analysis, Trading and Markets, Enforcement, Investment Management, Corporation Finance, and the Offices of International Affairs, Compliance Inspections and Examinations, Chief Accountant, and General Counsel. Former SEC commissioners and chairs will add commentary to the presentations.

PLI noted that the past year has been one of significant transition and rulemaking at the Commission. The SEC continues to engage in rulemaking to implement the JOBS Act and Dodd-Frank Act provisions, among other areas of note. PLI also pointed to the SEC’s bold enforcement program, which includes an increased readiness to litigate enforcement cases and to limit the use of neither-admit-not-deny clauses in its settlements. The SEC has continued its efforts to perform rigorous economic analysis in connection with its rulemaking and has renewed its focus on market structure issues.
