    In an e-mail sent to subscribers to its rulemaking proceedings distribution list today, the California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA) said it had opened a formal written public comment period regarding modifications to the text of proposed regulations implementing California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provisions requiring an accessible deletion mechanism.

    The draft regulations to implement a Delete Request and Opt-out Platform (DROP) were the subject of a previous public hearing on June 10, after which modifications to the draft were incorporated into the proposed text, according to the CPPA’s Notice of Modifications to Text of Proposed Regulations. The additional modifications, available here, relate to requirements data brokers must meet in standardizing information in their records when accessing the DROP, among other technical changes.

    The CPPA will accept written comments on the proposed changes through Aug. 18. Comments should be submitted to the e-mail address or regular mailing address specified in the notice of modifications.
